Recently, my husband, our faithful Labrador Loki and I spent three unforgettable nights at the Isabella Valamar Collection Island Resort on the island of Sveti Nikola. This luxurious island, just a short boat ride away from Poreč in Istria, offered us everything we could wish for on a perfect vacation with a dog.
Our accommodation: the spacious Isabella Island Villa
We opted for an Isabella Island Villa, which could accommodate up to four people and our dog Loki. The breathtaking sea view and spacious terrace were ideal for relaxing evenings while we enjoyed the sunset and Loki played beside us. We haven't experienced a hotel this pet-friendly in a long time - but more on that later.
Culinary delights with half board
As part of the half-board package, we were spoiled daily with a sumptuous breakfast and an exquisite dinner including non-alcoholic drinks. The culinary variety left nothing to be desired. It was particularly pleasing that we were able to take Loki with us to several restaurants so that he could always be close by.
Dog-friendly facilities and offers
The resort impressed us with its extensive dog-friendly facilities. When we arrived, we found a bowl, treats and a frisbee for Loki in our room. There was also an informative brochure with information on nearby vets and other dog-friendly facilities.
The fenced-in dog meadow was a particular plus point. Here Loki could run and play safely and freely. The two special dog beaches were a daily highlight. Loki loved swimming in the sea and romping on the beach while we enjoyed the sun and clear water.
The green island of Sveti Nikola and the Istria region
The island of Sveti Nikola is a green oasis surrounded by fragrant pine forest and crystal clear water. The quiet and peaceful atmosphere is ideal for a relaxing vacation with your dog. At the same time, Poreč, just a short boat ride away, offers a rich history and a charming old town to discover.
Istria as a region also impressed us. The picturesque coastal towns, the impressive nature and the delicious Istrian cuisine made our stay unforgettable. We were particularly impressed by the resort's sustainability initiatives: 85% of the lighting is provided by energy-saving LEDs and the island is powered entirely by solar energy.
