Combai - the indian dog breed in portrait

This dog breed is not recognized by the FCI. The Combai is also known as Kombai, Indian Bear Dog or Indian Beardog. These four-legged friends are also often called Indian Pitbulls. They are excellent hunting dogs and even better guard dogs. Even if these dogs are little known in our latitudes, it is a very old dog breed, which is popular in its homeland since the 9th century.

This dog breed is very agile dogs that are full of drive. Although Indian Bear Dogs have a very great will-to-please, this breed is not necessarily for beginners. Although Combais are very strong, persistent and fast, they are also very intelligent and absolutely sensitive.

The most distinctive feature of the Indian Bearhound is the so-called eel line. This is a narrow, usually darker line along the backbone of the animals. In the Kombat the eel line is black in most cases. The head is elongated and wears a black mask. The ears are large and drooping.

Appearance and coat of the Combais

The coat of these dogs is short and has no undercoat. It is rather hard and absolutely easy to maintain. You will only have to brush these four-legged friends occasionally, which these dogs always enjoy very much.

The Combais are light reddish or brown. It has a heavy and robust build, but is still very nimble and agile. The tail is carried vertically and bends over the body in very confident quadrupeds. In case of fear or unpleasant situations, the tail is pulled in between the hind legs.

The Combai grows to an average size of about 50 cm to 55 cm. Females are usually somewhat smaller than males.
