Aussie Newfie: Australian Shepherd and Newfoundland mix

The Aussie New fie is a mixed breed created when an Australian Shepherd and a Newfoundland are crossed. The Australian Shepherd, despite its name, was developed in the western United States as a livestock dog, while the Newfoundland originated in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and was originally used as a working dog in water rescue.

Suitability and Husbandry

The combination of these two breeds makes the Aussie Newfie an excellent choice for active families or individuals who spend a lot of time outdoors. These dogs are energetic and need plenty of exercise to stay healthy and happy. They will benefit from a home with a large, secure yard where they can play and run.
