Facts & Origin
Unique origin of the Swissydog
Swiss Mountain Dogs were traditionally used as herders, guardians and draft dogs. They were first officially recognized as a breed in the 19th century and have been known and loved throughout the world ever since.
But now for the hybrid mix - The Swissydog is described as a loving and loyal family dog that requires a special responsibility as it gives its owner its whole life. This is a mating of the four breeds of mountain dogs, namely the Great Swiss Mountain Dog, the Bernese Mountain Dog, the Appenzeller Mountain Dog and the Entlebucher Mountain Dog.
Swissydogs are a mixture of four mountain dog breeds and are bred through matings such as Bernese and Greater Swiss, Entlebucher and Appenzeller, or Bernese and Swissydog. These matings are also called F1 generation and there are also F2 matings like Swissydog and Bernese. Swissydogs are also called hybrids because they are a mixture of different breeds.

Attitude, character and temperament of the breed
Mating of mountain dogs results in the Swissydogs, which are healthier and longer-lived than purebred dogs due to their genetic diversity and heterosis. The hybrids are not only healthy, but also known to be intelligent, eager to learn, and adaptable family dogs. In addition, negative recessive traits rarely, if ever, occur in Swissydogs.
Character
Compared to purebred dogs, Swissydogs are more resistant to diseases and have a longer life expectancy. The dogs are known for their robust constitution and balanced character, which makes them ideal family dogs. However, they do require plenty of exercise and time outdoors to dissipate their energy and promote good health. Overall, Swissydogs are a wonderful choice for pet lovers looking for a loving and loyal companion.
Swissydogs have a higher resistance to disease and a longer life expectancy than purebred dogs due to the heterosis effect. Another advantage is the greater genetic diversity due to the combination of different breeds. When breeding Swissydogs, testing for breed-related hereditary diseases and a high age structure of the ancestors are crucial.
Depending on the parents, they may have the imposing appearance of the Great Swiss Mountain Dog, the long coat of the Bernese, the warmth of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog, or the energy and observational skills of the Appenzeller.
