The Thai Bangkaew dog comes from the village of Bangkaew in the province of Phitsanulok, Thailand. Its origins go back a long way and can be traced back to a cross between a black and white female dog from a Buddhist monastery and a now extinct wild dog. These dogs have been selectively bred over many generations, with the modern form of the breed being shaped by selective breeding lines , particularly since 1957 .
